Christ’s Recipe for Us ~
Repent ~ “Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee,
preaching the gospel of the kingdom of
God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand.
Repent, and believe in the gospel’” (Mark
1:14-15). Repent—literally turn or change direction—and your direction changes
away from spiritual death.
Look ~ “Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I
am God, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45:22). “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold!
The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’” (John
1:29). Look—with trust—for spiritual life.
Come ~ Jesus
said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I
am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My
yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew
11:28-30). “And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And
let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires,
let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17). Come to Jesus Christ
for rest and refreshment.
Abide ~ Jesus
said, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch
cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you,
unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in
Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:4-5).
Abiding in Christ brings fruitfulness and purpose to life.
Obey ~ Jesus
said, “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
You are My friends if you do whatever I command you” (John
15:12-14). Obedience
to Jesus Christ brings friendship with Him.
Watch ~ Jesus
said, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven,
nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not
know when the time is. It is like a man going to a far country, who left his
house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded
the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master
of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the
rooster, or in the morning—lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And
what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mark 13:32-37). “But know this, that if the
master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have
watched and not allowed his house to
be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an
hour you do not expect” (Luke 12:39-40). Watch in order to be ready for His
Second Coming for His children.
