~ The New Manner of Life ~
With true Christian conversion the individual’s complete
life is affected.
The New Manner of Life…
“Be renewed in the
spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness
and holiness” (Ephesians 4:23-24).
Is
Now Holy Before God ~ “But you
are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the
praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who
once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained
mercy but now have obtained mercy” (1 Peter 2:9-10).
Is
Now a Family As God Intended ~ “Wives, submit to your
own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do
not be bitter toward them. Children, obey your parents in all
things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your
children, lest they become discouraged” (Colossians 3:18-21, see also 1 Peter
3:1-7).
Is
Now Honest in Business ~ “We urge
you, brethren, that you increase more and more; that you also aspire to lead a
quiet life, to mind your own business, and to
work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly
toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing” (1
Thessalonians 4:10b-12). “Having your conduct
honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as
evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the
day of visitation” (1 Peter 2:12).
It
Now Does Good In The World ~ “Sanctify
the Lord God in your hearts, and
always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the
hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that
when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ
may be ashamed. For it is better, if
it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil” (1
Peter 3:15-17).
Closing Thought ~ “He who
would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away
from evil and do good; let him seek peace and
pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord
are on the righteous, and His ears are
open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord
is against those who do evil” (1 Peter
3:10-12).
