~ New Doctrine ~
Introduction ~ This
series will aid us in understanding some of the many dimensions of possessing new
life through the work of Jesus Christ found in the New Testament (or New
Covenant). The theme for this series is from the book of Lamentations where we
find a great summary verse about our gracious and faithful God.
New
Mercies
~ “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail
not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. ‘The Lord
is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I hope in Him!’” (Lamentations
3:22-24).
Scripture ~ “But Jesus
rebuked him, saying, ‘Be quiet, and come out of him!’ And when the unclean
spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him.
Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying,
‘What is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands
even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.’ And immediately His fame spread
throughout all the region around Galilee” (Mark 1:25-28).
“And
they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, ‘May we know what this new
doctrine is of which you speak? For you are bringing some strange things to
our ears. Therefore we want to know what these things mean.’ For all the
Athenians and the foreigners who were there spent their time in nothing else
but either to tell or to hear some new thing” (Acts 17:19-21).
