~ New Lump / New Batch ~
Introduction ~ This
series will aid us in understanding some of the many dimensions of possessing new
life through the work of Jesus Christ found in the New Testament (or New
Covenant). The theme for this series is from the book of Lamentations where we
find a great summary verse about our gracious and faithful God.
New
Mercies
~ “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail
not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. ‘The Lord
is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I hope in Him!’” (Lamentations
3:22-24).
Scripture ~ “Your
glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole
lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump,
since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed
for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the
leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and
truth” (1 Corinthians 5:6-8 nkjv).
“Your
boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast works through the
whole batch of dough? Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch
without yeast — as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been
sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the
yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of
sincerity and truth” (1 Corinthians 5:6-8 niv).
Comment ~ A little
sin quickly evolves into greater sins.
