Follow Me, 2

~ Following Jesus Christ Is The Mark of a True Christian Disciple ~

relevant passage  ~  “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1).

Why Follow  ~  Jesus said, “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also.  If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor” (John 12:26).  “And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.  Then He said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men’” (Matthew 4:18-19).

How To Follow  ~  “But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.  Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the valley; tomorrow turn and move out into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea” (Numbers 14:24-25).
“Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.  For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.  For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?  Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?  For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works’” (Matthew 16:24-27).

How Not To Follow  ~  “Having arrested Him, they led Jesus and brought Him into the high priest's house.  But Peter followed at a distance” (Luke 22:54).

When To Follow  ~  “Jesus said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’  They immediately left their nets and followed Him” (Matthew 4:19-20).

The Rewards Of Following  ~  “Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world.  He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life’” (John 8:12).  Then Peter said, ‘See, we have left all and followed You.’  So Jesus said to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life’” (Luke 18:28-30).

Rejoice, 4of4

~ Who Is Rejoicing Regardless of Circumstances? ~

Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice, for the Lord has done marvelous things!” (Joel 2:21).  This four-part series looks at the Who, What, When, Where, and How of Biblical rejoicing.

Who is Rejoicing?

The Church Is Rejoicing  ~  So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren” (Acts 15:3).

The Christians Are Rejoicing  ~  But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity” (Philippians 4:10).

The Son Of God Is Rejoicing  ~  Jesus tells of the parable of a lost sheep.  “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?  And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.  And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’  I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance” (Luke 15:4-7).

God The Father Is Rejoicing  ~  “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).

important  ~  Any Christian who remains conscious of all that Christ has done for them at the Cross of Calvary and all they possess because they are a child of God will maintain an on-going attitude of gratitude regardless of their earthly situation.

Rejoice, 3of4

~ How Should the Christian Rejoice Regardless of Circumstances ~

Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice, for the Lord has done marvelous things!” (Joel 2:21).  This four-part series looks at the Who, What, When, Where, and How of Biblical rejoicing.

How Should We Rejoice?

Rejoice With “Great Joy”  ~  “When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.  When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.  And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him.  And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh” (Matthew 2:9-11).

Comment  ~  There is an old true saying which provides the sure-fire formula for JOY.  It simply puts into perspective the proper priorities for a follower of Jesus Christ:
Jesus first,
Others next, and
Yourself last!

important  ~  Any Christian who remains conscious of all that Christ has done for them at the Cross of Calvary and all they possess because they are a child of God will maintain an on-going attitude of gratitude regardless of their earthly situation.
