~ Sometimes Other
Christians Won’t Understand ~
The Biblical
account of the life of Gideon provides for one of the most interesting
character studies in all of Scripture.
In this series we will discover practical lessons for living the
Christian life today.
Scripture ~ “Now the men of
Ephraim said to him, ‘Why have you done
this to us by not calling us when you went to fight with the Midianites?’ And they reprimanded him sharpl” (Judges
8:1).
Learn From Gideon
~ Sometimes following God means
to be at odds with your fellow believers.
- Be very careful in this area. Godly counsel is usually very solid, useful, and meaningful.
- There are many good resources which can assist an honest inquiring heart regarding God’s direction. One of those is “Thy Will Be Done on Earth: Understanding God’s Will for You” (ISBN 978-1-60647-430-3) by yours truly.
- But if God has made His path for you and assured you He is with you in the path you are headed then obey God. “But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: ‘We ought to obey God rather than men’” (Acts 5:29).
Challenge For Us
~ We all like approval. Are you willing to follow God even when it
causes conflict with people you value?
concluding comment ~ We
learn about Gideon primarily from Judges 6-8, but also Isaiah 9:1-7, and
Hebrews 11:1-3, 32-34.
