~ Salvation Is Present Tense ~
Salvation is not a Reward for the Righteous.
It is an available Gift for those who understand their Guilt!
Important Note
~ Salvation is not only a past
reality as we saw in our last post, but also an ongoing experience and a future
consummation (as we will see in the next post).
Salvation (present
tense) ~ “He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him,
since He always lives to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:25).
“God
demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through
Him. For if when we were enemies we were
reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been
reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation” (Romans 5:8-11).
“Therefore,
my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much
more in my absence, work out your own
salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to
will and to do for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:12-13).
“Jude, a
bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ: mercy, peace,
and love be multiplied to you” (Jude 1-2).
“But of Him
you are in Christ Jesus, who became for
us wisdom from God—and righteousness
[justification—past salvation] and sanctification
[present salvation] and redemption [our
ultimate redemption is our glorification or future salvation]—that, as it is
written, ‘He who glories, let him glory in the Lord’” (1 Corinthians 1:30-31).
Summary
~ The present tense aspect of
salvation is in regard to sin’s power. I am in the process of being sanctified for God because of the blood
of His Son. I now have a new condition as I am in process of being conformed to the image
of Christ. I am currently making progress in my salvation
