~ Keep On Keeping On! ~
The Biblical
account of the life of Gideon provides for one of the most interesting
character studies in all of Scripture.
In this series we will discover practical lessons for living the
Christian life today.
Scripture ~ “When Gideon came
to the Jordan, he and the 300 men who were with him crossed over, exhausted but
still in pursuit. Then he said to the
men of Succoth, ‘Please give loaves of bread to the people who follow me, for they are exhausted, and I am pursuing
Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian’” (Judges 8:4-5).
Learn From Gideon
~ God’s work can be very exhausting.
- Even though Gideon and his men were tired and wiped out they kept fighting.
- God wants us to finish strong.
- The Apostle Paul understood this important truth: “But none of these things move me [the many things he had just outlined in the previous verses]; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24).
Challenge For Us
~ Are you continuing to carry out
the roles, responsibilities, and ministries that our Lord has assigned you?
concluding comment ~ We
learn about Gideon primarily from Judges 6-8, but also Isaiah 9:1-7, and
Hebrews 11:1-3, 32-34.
