~ 6 Key Observations Regarding
Responding to Jesus Christ ~
Key Passages
~ “And
Jesus went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they
came to Him” (Mark 3:13).
“And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw
two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into
the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them,
‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ They
immediately left their nets and followed Him” (Matthew
4:18-20).
Notice several key aspects about the way
the disciples responded to the call of Jesus Christ.
They Were Not Coerced ~ They
choose to follow of their own free will.
They Did Not Procrastinate ~ They
did not hesitate but rather responded quickly in obedience.
They Were Obedient
~ They made their decision even
though it involved sacrifice.
They Visibly Stepped Forward (public
witness) ~ Their answer was clear—not at all
ambiguous.
They Exercised Faith (faith
like a child) ~ It would not have been easy. They were saying goodbye to their
livelihood.
They Were Confident in the Object of
Their Faith ~ They
didn’t second-guess or question the Savior.
the key question:
“Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). This is the most important
question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it
incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
