The Marriage of Christ to His Church ~
Introduction ~
Biblical prophecy is a lot like a giant jigsaw puzzle. The creators of each have provided a clear picture
of the end result. As the puzzle is
being put together, the completion is increasingly anticipated. However, the placement, sequence, and timing
of the remaining pieces is not as clear.
This series of posts would be better entitled Remaining Future Events; however, Second Coming (or Second Advent)
is the common terminology which tends to lump a wide range of future events
together.
The
Scene In Heaven
~ “And I heard, as it were, the
voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of
mighty thunderings, saying, ‘Alleluia!
For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!
Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the
Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready’” (Revelation 19:6-7). “And
Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said: ‘The kingdom of
heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, and sent out
his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not
willing to come. Again, he sent out
other servants, saying, “Tell those who are invited, ‘See, I have prepared my
dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding’”’” (Matthew 22:1-4).
The
Bride Prepared
~ “‘Let us be glad and rejoice
and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has
made herself ready.’ And to her it was
granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is
the righteous acts of the saints” (Revelation 19:7-8). “For I am jealous for you with godly
jealousy. For I have betrothed you to
one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ” (2
Corinthians 11:2).
The
Guests Invited
~ “Then he said to me, ‘Write: “Blessed
are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!”’ And he said to me, ‘These are the true
sayings of God’” (Revelation 19:9). “He
who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who
stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled” (John
3:29).
The
Joy In Heaven
~ “Let us be glad and rejoice and
give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made
herself ready” (Revelation 19:7). “Now
to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before
the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, Who alone is
wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen” (Jude 24-25).
The
Bride’s Attire
~ “And to her it was granted to
be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous
acts of the saints” (Revelation 19:8).
