“I will never think of a pearl in the same light again. I absolutely love the way you have drawn a parallel between the pearl and the Church.  This is inspired!”  ~ Elizabeth Hightower, Women's Ministry Leader, Laurelwood Baptist Church

~ Jesus Christ Came To Die And Destroy Satan’s Power ~

Passage  ~  “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.  For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.  Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.  For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted” (Hebrews 2:14-18).

Significance  ~  The resurrection proved beyond any doubt that Christ has power over death.  The resurrection is a key difference between Christianity and all religions—we serve a living Savior.  Fortunately, there is a vast amount of data confirming the reality of the resurrection—not the least of it being the risen Christ was seen by over 500 individuals at one time.

‘But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:11).  “Knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you” (2 Corinthians 4:14-15).

the key question:  “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).  This is the most important question you will ever answer.  If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!

Comment  ~  The unsuccessful attempt by Satan to tempt Christ to sin is another line of proof of how Christ defeated Satan (see Matthew 4:1-11).
