~ The Christian As Light ~
A Candle Must Be Lighted To Be Useful
~ “For You will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness”
(Psalm 18:28).
A Candle Should Be
Positioned To Be Seen ~ Jesus said, “You are the light of the
world. A city that is set on a hill
cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a
lamp and put it under a basket, but on a
lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that
they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew
5:14-16).
A Candles Wick Should Be Kept Burning
~ Jesus said, “Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning” (Luke 12:35). The Book of Proverbs speaking of the Godly woman says, “She
perceives that her merchandise is good, and her
lamp does not go out by night” (Proverbs 31:18).
A Good Candle Will Burn Brightly
~ In commending John the Baptist
Jesus Christ said, “He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a
time to rejoice in his light” (John 5:35). Speaking about the
role of all His disciples Jesus said, “Let
your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and
glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Light Is Needed For Finding Lost Items
~ In the parable of the lost coin
Jesus Christ said, “What woman, having ten silver
coins, if she loses one coin, does
not light a lamp, sweep the house, and
search carefully until she finds it?” (Luke 15:8).
A Christians Light Should
Never Go Out ~ “Those
who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those
who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever” (Daniel 12:3).
