~ What Should a Christian Rejoice
About Regardless of Circumstances ~
“Fear not, O land; be glad
and rejoice, for the Lord has done marvelous things!” (Joel
2:21). This four-part series looks at the
Who, What, When, Where, and How of Biblical rejoicing.
What Should We Rejoice
About?
Rejoice About God’s Salvation
~ “My
heart shall rejoice in Your salvation”
(Psalm 13:5b). “Blessed be the God
and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has
begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not
fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through
faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this
you greatly rejoice” (1 Peter 1:3-6a). “We will rejoice in your
salvation” (Psalm 20:5a).
Rejoice About Saved Sinners
~ Jesus gave the parable of the
Prodigal Son. “But
the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out
the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his
feet. And bring the fatted calf here and
kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive
again; he was lost and is found.’ And
they began to be merry” (Luke 15:22-24).
Rejoice About Christ Jesus
~ “We
are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus,
and have no confidence in the flesh” (Philippians 3:3).
“In this you greatly rejoice, though now
for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that
the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that
perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory
at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do
not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice
with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith —
the salvation of your souls” (1 Peter 1:6-9).
Rejoice
In The Lord ~ “I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in
the God of my salvation” (Habakkuk 3:18).
“I rejoiced in the Lord greatly
that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did
care, but you lacked opportunity” (Philippians 4:10).
important ~ Any Christian who remains conscious of all
that Christ has done for them at the Cross of Calvary and all they possess
because they are a child of God will maintain an on-going attitude of gratitude
regardless of their earthly situation.
