~ Consider 2 Great Works of Our God ~
The Work of Jesus Christ for
Christians ~ “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, His
one and only Son. And this is why: so
that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and
lasting life” (John 3:16, The Message).
“Jesus
spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: ‘Father, the hour
has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your
Son also may glorify You, as You have
given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know
You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I have glorified You on the earth. I have
finished the work which You have given Me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Me together with
Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was’” (John 17:1-5). In Jesus Christ the
Christian has been made complete and is viewed without blemish by God the
Father because of the Cross of Calvary.
The Work of the Holy Spirit In
Christians ~ “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord
Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every
remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all
with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He
who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ”
(Philippians 1:2-6).
“But
you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the
Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if
Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life
because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the
dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life
to your mortal bodies through His Spirit
who dwells in you. Therefore,
brethren, we are debtors — not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For
if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put
to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
For as many as are led by the
Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by
whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our
spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs — heirs of
God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also
be glorified together” (Romans 8:9-17). Because
of the indwelling Spirit of God the Christian is progressively growing into the
likeness of Jesus Christ and has a wonderful prospective ahead.
