~ Jesus Christ is The True and Faithful
Scribe ~
The Bible is about Jesus Christ
~ “Jesus
said to them, ‘How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that
the prophets have spoken! Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter His glory?’ And
beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was said
in all the Scriptures concerning Himself” (Luke 24:25-27).
In Ezra Jesus
Christ is the true and faithful Scribe as well as the builder and restorer of
the Church.
“And
again the word of the Lord came to
Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying, ‘Speak to Zerubbabel,
governor of Judah, saying: “I will shake heaven and earth. I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I
will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overthrow the
chariots and those who ride in them; the horses and their riders shall come
down, every one by the sword of his brother.
In that day,” says the Lord of
hosts, “I will take you, Zerubbabel My servant, the son of Shealtiel,” says the
Lord, “and will make you like a
signet ring; for I have chosen you,” says the Lord
of hosts’” (Haggai 2:20-23).
“So
he answered and said to me: ‘This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: “Not by might nor by power, but by My
Spirit,” says the Lord of hosts. “Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone with
shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’” Moreover
the word of the Lord came to me,
saying: ‘The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands shall also finish it. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see the plumb line
in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the
eyes of the Lord, which scan to
and fro throughout the whole earth’” (Zechariah 4:6-10).
During this
period God brought the people of Israel back to their promised land. This caused the Israelites to be eagerly
looking forward to the coming Messianic reign.
Comment
~ We have only touched the
surface of Christ in Ezra.
The Apostle
Paul told us the Scriptures present many shadows of things to come but the
reality is found in Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:17).
