~ The Title “Jehovah-Shammah” ~
Jesus
said, “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30).
There are quite
a number of Jehovah titles. This series
will focus on seven Jehovah titles which embrace the fullness of Jesus Christ
for His people. These titles include the
completeness of Jehovah’s name as it is manifested in the life of Jesus Christ
for His people. These titles show how
the Messiah completely meets His people’s need from their guilt to their future
glory.
Jehovah-Shammah means “the Lord is there,” which was a Hebrew way of stating the abiding
presence of God with His people.
The
book of Ezekiel concludes with a high note by reminding the Israelites of the
abiding presence of God with His people. “All the way around shall be eighteen thousand
cubits; and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE” (Ezekiel 48:35).
Application ~ Our
Lord and Savior desires fellowship with His children. He wants His redeemed to walk with Him
constantly, to converse with Him, to seek His advice, and to obey Him.
Jesus
said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him,
bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast
out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the
fire, and they are burned. If you abide
in Me, and My words abide in you, you will
ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear
much fruit; so you will be My disciple” (John 15:5-8). The word “abide” implies dwelling with or living with—not just
visiting from time to time. Christians
are to be walking with Christ twenty-four, seven, three-sixty-five.
the key question:
“Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). This is the most important
question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it
incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
